Estimate Paint Quantity for Walls
Enter wall area, number of coats, and coverage per liter to estimate paint liters and common bucket counts before buying supplies.
Allow for Surface and Waste Differences
Rough walls, dark color changes, primer needs, texture, roller loss, and touch-ups can increase paint use. Add extra paint when the surface is unpredictable.
About This Tool
Paint Calculator estimates how many litres of paint are needed to cover a wall, ceiling, or room based on surface area and the paint's coverage rate. It accounts for the number of coats and windows or doors that reduce the paintable area.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much area does one litre of paint cover?
Standard interior emulsion covers 10 to 12 square metres per litre for a single coat. Premium paints may cover more; primer and undercoat cover less.
How many coats do I need?
Two coats is standard for most painted surfaces. A fresh white over a dark colour may require three coats. Primer reduces the number of finish coats needed.
Should I add extra for wastage?
Add 10 percent to the calculated amount for brush strokes, roller waste, and touch-ups after the main coat dries.
